If you’re looking to spend two unforgettable days immersed in nature, cycling through the countryside of French Hainaut and the Avesnois Regional Nature Park, this trip is for you!
Enjoy scenic cycling paths, a visit to the beautiful town of Le Quesnoy and its ramparts, a ride through the Forêt de Mormal, and the discovery of local heritage — a rich programme awaits you throughout this 90 km journey.
Perfect for a first experience of cycle touring in the region!

Day 1:
Your journey begins in Famars, just a few kilometres south of Valenciennes. To start, you’ll pass the magnificent restored Château de Famars, before heading onto the dirt tracks of the Hainaut countryside. This very area hosts part of the famous Paris-Roubaix cycling race every spring.
You will then ride through the town of Le Quesnoy, where you can take your time to stroll along the impressive ramparts of this fortified town. From there, you’ll continue further south towards the Forêt de Mormal. Nature lovers will enjoy visiting the arboretum here.
At the end of the day, you will reach the village of Maroilles, famous for its strong-flavoured A.O.C. cheese. In the evening, you can also visit the peaceful mill on the Helpe Mineure river.
Day 2:
On your second day, you will set off again towards the forest, before following the Sambre River for several kilometres. You can choose to stop for lunch at one of the inns along your route, or simply enjoy a peaceful picnic by the river or in the forest.
The final part of the journey takes you through some lovely villages in the northern part of Avesnois — this is the most rolling section of your route. You will be charmed by the beauty of the landscapes, as well as by the old mills and washhouses that line the roads. The circuit even leads you to a few delightful waterfalls that you might never have expected to find!
For this trip, you will enjoy a comfortable bed and breakfast, with breakfast included, offering you a peaceful place to rest.

You will, of course, have a safe and secure place to store your bike.
