This trip takes you along a scenic route, sometimes following the coast — much of it along La Vélomaritime — and sometimes heading inland through western Pas-de-Calais.
It offers stunning views of the English Channel, the sand dunes, beautiful sandy beaches, and even the English coastline on a clear day.
You’ll ride through many charming fishing villages, cycle across the Calaisis, Boulonnais, and Montreuillois regions, and take your time discovering all the treasures of this authentic area.
An unforgettable adventure combining physical activity, local culture, and breathtaking landscapes!

Day 1:
Your trip begins with a visit to Calais. The city offers plenty of points of interest: the Town Hall, Rodin’s famous sculpture “The Burghers of Calais”, the Grand Theatre, the Lace and Fashion Museum, and the lighthouse. You’ll leave the city via the beach, where you’ll likely come across one of the town’s main attractions — the Dragon of Calais.
You will then follow the North Sea coastline heading towards the Two Capes. Passing through the countryside, you’ll descend back down towards the English Channel below — the scenery here is magnificent, and on a clear day, you’ll even spot the golden cliffs of the English coast, over 30 km away.
The day ends with a ride along La Vélomaritime (part of EuroVelo 4) — a cycle route spanning over 1,500 km from Roscoff in Britanny to Dunkirk.
Day 2:
On this second day, you’ll continue to enjoy the seaside, passing through the villages of Ambleteuse and Wimereux. You’ll then arrive in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France’s largest fishing port.
Get ready to test your legs, as you climb up to the beautiful old town, located over 60 metres above sea level. The area is rich in heritage: castle, cathedral, town hall, and belfry — there is so much to explore here. You can even enjoy a walk along the ramparts if you wish to take a short break from cycling.
You’ll then descend back towards the English Channel, continuing your ride south along La Vélomaritime once again. By the end of the day, you’ll reach Hardelot, passing by the château, whose history dates back over 900 years! If you can, be sure to take the time to visit it!
Day 3:
More new discoveries await you on this third stage of your journey. The route will take you inland, along many paths specially selected for you by Ch’tis Voyages à Vélo. You’ll alternate between quiet country roads and tracks through open fields.
The terrain here is quite rolling, so take it at your own pace! You will eventually reach the peaceful Vallée de la Course. For several kilometres, the road runs alongside this lovely little river winding through the valley. You’ll leave the Boulonnais behind and enter the Montreuillois.
You’ll finish your day’s ride in the beautiful village of Montreuil-sur-Mer, with one final effort to climb up into the fortified town.
Day 4:
It’s already your final day of the trip! You’ll leave Montreuil-sur-Mer and follow quiet country roads as you make your way back down to the coast.
After crossing the Balençon marshes, you’ll head towards the Baie d’Authie. This vast bay straddles the border between the Pas-de-Calais and the Somme départements. It is known for its ecological diversity — and if you’re lucky, you may spot the colony of seals resting on the sandbanks.
Towards the end of your ride, you’ll enjoy one last stretch along the sea, cycling along the promenade at Berck-sur-Mer. You’ll finish your ride with one final section of La Vélomaritime before reaching Rang-du-Fliers station.
For this trip, you will stay in high-quality hotels: 3-star or equivalent. All hotels are located within walking distance of restaurants, so you won’t need to get back on your bike in the evening unless you wish to.
Each hotel provides a solution for secure bike storage overnight.
Breakfast and tourist taxes are included in the trip.
